Commuter rail linking Scranton, Poconos with NYC receives fed money

A railroad linking the Poconos to the New York City metropolitan area took a small step closer to reality this week. Congress passed a federal spending bill that includes $1.3 million in engineering funds for a line linking Scranton with Hoboken, N.J., according to the Times-Tribune of Scranton.
